Summary
Traditionally, Indian logistics has remained inefficient and unorganized due to poor infrastructure, regional fragmentation, and complex tax laws which resulted in companies having multiple warehouses across various Indian states. However, the recent development of organized retail, increased government focus on infrastructure outlays, the proposed introduction of a unified tax regime, and increased outsourcing of logistics has brought the Indian logistics industry to a crucial inflection point. In late 2006, Realterm Global created a platform for investment in Indian industrial real estate. This platform will provide India’s supply chain participants with modern, efficient logistics and distribution facilities. The long-term goal of the venture is to create India’s pre-eminent industrial real estate development and operating company. This goal will be achieved by providing best-in-class real estate and infrastructure options for tenants, while creating a diverse investment portfolio of institutional quality industrial assets.
